Demands on retirement home workers have increased substantially over the past 10 years. Workload issues and care standards have become more important than ever before.
Increasingly, seniors with serious health issues are taking up residence in retirement homes. Retirement home staff are increasingly expected to look after residents who have Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, cancer and other serious illnesses.
That’s why over 4,000 retirement home employees are members of SEIU. Our union is helping close the pay gap and reaching out to new workers in this sector.
