Shaking Things Up at Queens Park

Politicians in Queen’s Park make decisions affecting people’s jobs, health care and education. Anything that is won at the bargaining table can be quickly taken away with government legislation after. That is why workers’ struggle never end, and why SEIU must be expert government lobbyists and always remain politically active.

SEIU Local 1 Canada has worked with the Ontario Government on issues that are important to our members, including:

  • Improving workplace health and safety standards
  • Advancing patient and client care
  • Strengthening Ontario’s public health care system
  • Enforcing and improving pay equity legislation
  • Reducing racism and sexism in the workplace

Members can also make a difference. Members can talk with their Provincial MPPs and ask where they stand on issues that are important to them. They can also invest their time, energy, and resources supporting and electing politicians who will stand with SEIU and the working people of Ontario.
