Personal Support Workers
Personal Support Workers (PSWs) care for the elderly, injured and disabled in home care, long-term care, nursing and retirement homes.
PSWs keep their clients healthy and active. They also change beds, clean laundry, provide hands on care and therapy, offer companionship, and administer the continuity of care that helps patients and clients face life’s challenges.
SEIU Local 1 Canada is proud that it has helped thousands of PSWs win important victories in their workplaces. SEIU Local 1 Canada has helped reduced violence and verbal abuse against PSWs, helped part-time PSWs become full-time employees and has fought for greater government spending in home care.
