SEIU Local 1 Canada won a stunning 100% victory at a certification vote held on Friday, October 9. Parking and transportation services employees at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto voted to join SEIU, welcoming 32 new members into the union.

“Sunnybrook parking and transportation services staff wanted to protect their jobs from outsourcing,” said Bastian Williams, lead organizer for the campaign. “SEIU has strong contract language that can protect members from being sold out to the lowest bidder.”

SEIU Local 1 Canada is an Organizing Union that represents more than 46,000 health care and community services workers in Ontario. Its members work in hospitals, home care, nursing and retirement homes and community services.
