Workers from Glynnwood Retirement Residence voted to join SEIU, Ontario’s Organizing Union. The vote took place on September 25, 2008.

“More and more workers in retirement homes are signing up with SEIU,” said Bastion Williams, the organizing lead for the campaign. “Retirement home employees who are members of SEIU enjoy higher wages, benefits and working conditions than non-union workers. We are proud that Glynnwood workers chose to join the SEIU family.”

SEIU Local 1 Canada is an Organizing Union that represents more than 46,000 health care and community services workers in Ontario. Its members work in hospitals, home care, nursing and retirement homes and community services.
