Eighty-five per cent of the workers at Morriston Park Nursing and Retirement Home in Puslinch, Ontario voted to join SEIU Local 1 Canada. The result of the November 7, 2008 vote gave 43 workers at Morriston Park a voice in their workplace.

“This win confirms that SEIU is the union of choice for nursing and retirement homes across Ontario,” said Leanne Bradshaw-Collett, the Lead Organizer for the campaign. “These new members now have the collective power to improve their working conditions.”

SEIU Local 1 Canada is an Organizing Union that represents more than 46,000 health care and community services workers in Ontario. Its members work in hospitals, home care, nursing and retirement homes and community services.
