International Women's Day

March 08, 2010

International Working Woman's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 every year since 1911.  It is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.

The Canadian federal government has declared that Strong Leadership. Strong Women. Strong World: Equality is the theme for International Women's Day. The theme reflects the government's firm belief that increasing women's participation and access to leadership roles and opportunities will help women and girls thrive, reach their full potential, fulfill their dreams, and help build a more prosperous Canada. For more information, visit the Status of Women Canada's web page on International Women's Day.
