Making a difference in people’s lives

Massey Workers on Strike

SEIU Local 1 Canada has 3,500 members who work in community services.

Most of them are Social Workers, Community Support Workers (CSW), Development Services Workers (DSW), Personal Support Workers (PSW) and Peer Counsellors who are employed in group homes, women’s shelters, addiction centres and other non-profit community care organizations.

Their jobs focus on helping people to overcome difficult challenges in their lives and help them reach their full potential.

SEIU’s community services workers have attained higher wages and benefits, acquired more manageable workloads, and better work schedules to manage stress and prevent work burnout.

To 2015 and beyond: we’re shaping our future!
