125 workers at Simcoe County Association for the Physically Disabled (SCAPD) in Barrie, Ontario have joined SEIU Local 1 Canada. The vote was held on October 10, 2008

“This is a big win for all SCAPD employees and the entire Community Service Sector,” said Tyler Downey, the Lead Organizer in the campaign. “This gives workers at the SCAPD an opportunity to address important issues in their workplace as well as client care.”

SEIU Local 1 Canada is an Organizing Union that represents more than 46,000 health care and community services workers in Ontario. Its members work in hospitals, home care, nursing and retirement homes and community services.
