Warm Clothes for Whitby Women & Children
SEIU members spread plenty of warmth this January by making a generous donation of winter weather gear to the Muslim Welfare Home for women and children.
Nathalee Thompson, an SEIU Local 1 Canada member and member of the SEIU Multi-Faith & Community Network (SMCN), joined forces with healthcare workers at Winbourne Park Long Term Care Centre to help with their 'Winter Warm Up' campaign. With Nathalee's strong passion, leadership and resourcefulness, members from Winbourne were able to deliver much-needed warm clothing.
Jason Miller, founder of a not-for-profit organization 'One More Wear',
onemorewear.org
, joined forces with the SMCN and donated two large boxes of clothes.
A shelter for women and children, The
Muslim Welfare Home
has been serving people of all faiths and background since 1996. They have 45 beds, a children’s playroom and offer healthy food, counselling, training, medical aid and services to those in need.
Our SEIU Sisters and Brothers proved once again that when we work with our communities, great things happen. SEIU Local 1 Canada thanks everyone involved in making the Winter Warm Up initiative a great success.
